Curriculum

After a Ph.D. in Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Catania with a topic on Web Reasoning, I currently have a post-doc position and a contract professor role at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science in Catania. I have been interested in all the theoretical and practical aspects of knowledge representation and reasoning with focus on ontologies and their applications, algorithm engineering and developing. I am also interested in theory and applications of Linked Data and Semantic Web, in particular in the field of Human Sciences, Internet of Things, and Intelligent Systems, and in Blockchain technology. I have also been interested on investigating the capabilities of several fragments of computable Set Theory in ontological reasoning. I am co-author of several papers concerning the set-theoretical representation of fragments of description logics, the related reasoning tasks, and the implementation of a set-theoretical reasoner for OWL ontologies. I am also co-author of several papers concerning ontology engineering and development.
